An alleged retaliatory crosscheck by Steve Rea knocked his opponent down, causing the downed player to strike his head on the ice. The referee considered the action violent enough to warrant a major penalty

This second incident occurred with less than one minute remaining. #18 Steven Rea ( Evaders) was face to face with Bobby Doi (Suns) when quickly and suddenly Steve pushed Bobby, catching him off guard. Bobby fell backwards awkwardly and hit his head on the ice and lay there on his back for a few seconds without movement. Luckily Bobby was not hurt. The above penalties were assessed to #18 Steve. The remaining time on the clock was run out.

The call on the ice is accepted and no hearing is called for. An automatic suspension of 1 game stands.
